A night in the Sprinter

I am camped out on my maden voyage in the Mary's Lake Camp Ground in Estes Park, Colorado (about 15 miles from my house.) The purpose of this trip is to try out all of the gadgets on the motor home. So far, so good!! Besides Gracey and Red Fred and me.... friends Heidi and Bev came to help set up and have dinner, and 4 friends from my work (Cindy, Kathy, Vicki and Rebecca) came over for wine and a movie (The Rocky Horror Picture Show.)

Now it's after 11pm and all of the guests have gone home. So it's time to see if I can sleep in my over the cab bed. The ground is a lot more level here than at my house, and I have had plenty of wine so I think that I will be able to sleep. So nitey nite!

A night in the Sprinter

I made reservations to spend tomorrow night in a local RV Park with Gracey and Red Fred. My plan is have the propane tank filled, try the hot water heater and shower. Fire up the stove, the oven and the generator. Check for leaks, see how things work & invite my friends over to watch a movie. I am hopeful that the RV spaces are more level than my parking area at home & that sleeping in the cab over bed will be more peaceful than the first time I tried to sleep in it.

Gracey and Red Fred

These are my traveling companions. Gracey is a 5 year old Golden and Red Fred is 9 and also a Golden. This is the second trip we have taken together in a Motor Home. Earlier this year we borrowed a small class B motor home and spent 2 weeks with a friend traveling thru Arizona and New Mexico. We had a great time, but I decided that we needed a motor home with a bit more space.... So now we have the Sprinter.

The Sprinter

Here is a picture of my Sprinter by Mallard. It is a 1987 22 foot class C motorhome. She is old, but only has 12,000 miles on her (so far). She looks big enough and tough enough to get us to and from Alaska.

North to Alaska

It's May 29th, 2008. I am taking 6 weeks off work to travel with my two golden retrievers: Gracey and Red Fred to Alaska. I have bought an RV, gotten the time off work & am reading about how my new motor home works. Last week-end I planned to spend the night in the RV, which is parked in my driveway. By 2:30am, I was cold, it was raining and I was pretty sure that I was going to roll out of bed...I went inside my house to sleep the rest of the night in warmth and comfort.
