Day 23 Kenai to Seward

This morning before we left Kenai I did a walking tour of the old town area. This is a very Old Russian community which has 2 Old Russian Orthodox churches. I spent some time in one of the churches listening to a very animated old priest tell the history of the church, and his Russian background. There was an old rectory which is the oldest house in town, and is also where this priest and his wife live. Oh, I also read that there are 5 active volcanoes in this area. I could see three from Kenai, but had a hard time taking their pictures. The looks so much like clouds and sky, my camera didn’t focus on them. At least one turned out, they are distance, but very cool!

The drive was pretty easy & much of it was on the same highway going the opposite direction as 3 days ago. Seward is a port, & is where many cruise ships come and go. The Alaskan train also starts here. Three blocks of the down town waterfront is city property and a campground for RVs and tent camping!!! It must bring in more revenue than renting building space. Gracey, Red Fred and I had a nice waterfront walk this evening.

I am having difficulty including my pictures. I'll keep trying.
