Day 31 From Prince George to Lillooet

What a glorious day!!! We had rain this morning as we pulled out of the RV park in Prince George, so Red Fred was on edge...he hates anthing that might lead to thunder or loud noises. Even after the weather cleared, he would startle easily & would bark at passing trucks, this wasn't plesant for Gracey or me. There were many gas stations along highway 97 leading south from Prince George, also quite a bit of traffic. South of Williams Lake (which by the way is a beautiful town) we turned on to a lesser highway 99. I've always been a Robert Frost kinda gal, and road is twistier, slower moving and with much less traffic. That's how we ended up in a LOVELY campground in the town of Lillooet. The Sprinter is at the end of the campground on a cliff overlooking the Frasier River and the town of Lillooet with mountains behind. The dogs can run free & they've already had several dips in the Frasier.

Before we leave the area tomorrow, I'm going to walk "Lillooet's Golden Mile of History". In the 1860's this guy named John Calbraith brought over 23 camels to help haul equiptment for gold mining, then had to build a bridge that spans the river for them to walk across. It was said to be a spectacular lack of success. It's probably worth Googling, if you are interested. I'll try to send photos.

It's bedtime for me. What a treat to be out in the middle of nowhere, deep in a canyon, have happy dogs, a beautiful view, and WiFi, too. What could be better???
