Day 32 Lillooet to Vancourver Island

What a day! Have I said that before? We left the Fraiser RV park at 9:30 in the morning, headed for the town of Lillooet, to find about the 23 camels. The entire town is interesting, and the location is breathtaking. The original camel bridge is not longer standing, but it's replacement is & it's only good for foot (people, not camel) traffic now. I will try and post my pictures, but here is a great web site: http://www.cayoosh.net/goldmile.html

After a great morning of poking around the town, and having a nice meal at Dina's Greek Restaurant, we headed north toward Vancouver thru Whistler. The road north of Lillooet is a slow go and spectacular!!! For the first time I saw, and drove on 15% grade roads. In a 1987 22 foot class C RV I felt like a beginner on a black diamond ski run,, Wa hooooo! I saw a warning sign for "vertical turns". It was a slow trip, but glorious. I hope I can post my pictures. But much of the time I was glued to the steering wheel. We went thru Whistler, home of the 2010 winter Olympics and then on to Vancouver.

As soon as I saw the Ferry sign in north Vancouver I pulled over. It was 5:30pm and I new that I would take this ferry tomorrow...but I just went for it. It cost $100. and took 90 minutes to transport us to Vancouver Island. We left at 7:30 and got there at 9pm. It was dark and raining when we arrived & I hadn't a clue where we would stay. After much driving around, we stayed in a Walmart parking lot in Nanaimo. Whew. I'm going to post this and then try for pictures.
