Day 28 Lake Kathleen to Boondocking on the Cassair Highway

We woke up Saturday morning, refreshed and ready to go. The campground had been very quiet and most folk’s were gone when we left at 10:30. We stopped and got gas, again in Haines Junction and then took off towards Watson Lake. The turn onto the Cassiar Hwy happens just a few miles before Watson Lake. I ran out of gas (for the second time) ¼ miles from the gas station at Junction 37. I walked to the gas station, bought a gas “can” and gas and got a ride, from a previously Boulder Colorado couple, back to my car & drove to the station to buy more gas. The Boulder couple who has moved to Durango had just been on a 14 day canoe adventure and was heading home. After my gas tank, and my new gas “can” was full, I headed down the Cassiar Highway toward Prince George.

The road was wet and ripply and it was getting dark. After driving for an hour and a half, I pulled off in a rest area & it is there that we spent a rainy night.
